Combs Valley Campsite

We woke up to beautiful sunshine this morning and were determined to go for a decent walk.  By the time we were ready though, it was nearer to midday.  We had no idea which way to head for, so randomly we found a track and as luck would have it, a woman carrying a baby papoose around her explained our best route.  We headed off and precisely seven minutes after thanking the lady for her help, whilst negotiating the first stile of the day, Jayne landed badly and collapsed in a heap, having come down heavily on her ankle and clearly damaging it.  After slowly helping her to her feet it was clear that Jayne had twisted her ankle and getting back to the campervan would be tough.  I set off to get the car (good job we had it eh?) and met her on the roadside.  By now it was hot and Jayne’s diagnosis was a sprained ankle which needed her to keep her weight of it.  Somehow that became “let’s drive to the pub for a couple and see how it is”.  The best phrases are sometimes lost in translation.

Remember the famous “send reinforcements, we’re going to advance”

Became “send three and fourpence, we’re going to a dance”?

Luckily, grandson George’s football training was cancelled so we could concentrate on the injury and the ankle was strapped and rested.  And Manchester United got panned by Liverpool; not a great day really.
